When i'm in the following cities I HAVE to have:

1. NYC- Cheesecake, bagels, pizza...cupcakes...well basically anything my heart desires
2. Chicago- Garrets popcorn, hotdogs, deep dish pizza
3. Philly- cheesesteak, pretzels...random but bread pudding
4. New Orleans- soul food, turtle soup, and alligator (don't knock it til you try it)
5. Texas (yes the whole state)- bbq and tacos!

Honorary mention:
Detroit- great chili dogs and bakeries!

Try a bakery in S.Philly the next time you go. Plenty of awesome Italian places in the same area as well. I miss my Tastykakes.

With this i have heard a number of arguments between Kansas City, Texas, and either NC/SC? I love me some BBQ and wouldn't mind trying them all out.

To me, Memphis is the king of BBQ (and I've made it a priority to know these things), but it depends on which regional variant you prefer.

I don't care much for eastcoast food, extremely greasy, forgettable east Asian and Mexican food, nuff said

Seriously? It's too bad one can't lose reputation points based on that post.

Interesting, I had the best sushi of my life on the Big Island in Waikoloa. The Ahi Poke was amazing. Also the fresh locally grown fruit and produce was great too (big farm to table restaurant operation on the Big Island). I thought the food in Hawaii was quite exceptional, though I guess I wouldn't be surprised that a tourist trap joint in Honolulu would have not so good food but that could happen anywhere.

Why not Dallas as #1?

I know that rodeo town is known for it....
