Local people in NOLA often avoid the quarter though as far as I know. So if you take out that area... is it really going to be a top party city, that isn't novelty? I'm not sure... Almost everybody on the strip in Vegas is a tourist. And the dominant people in NOLA might be sporting Alabama, Ole Miss, Auburn and LSU hats if any tourists were dominant.
NOLA would still be in the top 5. We avoid Bourbon St. Not necessarily the Quarter, there are many people who live within walking distance who like to visit the bars farther from Bourbon but in the neighborhood and clubs like Jax and Ampersand which don't seem to have many tourists at all. Also the fact that you can get a drink 24/7 and bring it anywhere in the city without a problem is a unique feature many cities cannot match.

Ya darn right Louisiana is top 5 boy. I park my pick up truck at an all you can eat catfish restaurant in NOLA.

I had some greasy food that was finger lickin good. I got back in my pick up truck and headed to south Louisiana. Since in from south Louisiana y'all know I'm all about culture.

I was gonna post the same thing. Miamis nightlife has reached way beyond the tier of novelty. Maybe back in the Jackie Gleason days, but since the 80s, Miamis nightlife has grown beyond the heights of niche nightlife. SoBe has changed from being Hispanic-tinged nightlife, 2 EDM-y, 2 now being more Urban/hip-hop/black-oriented. SoBe isn't even the same SoBe it was in the late-90s/early-00s. Gianni Versace wouldn't recognize SoBe 2-day if he came back from the grave. Completely different place. More hip-hop, more blacks(Not a bad thing), more Locals.

Lots of after parties in LA....and they aren't dry on Sunday. Minn/St. Paul still is a great place to live, it just isn't a party city imo.

Truth be told, and while I LOVE LA, I dont find it a really exceptional party city. I grew up in the area and while its a very exciting city and there is always a party, I would not put it on the same level as Miami or Vegas for parties and nightlife. Its actually not at all dis-similar to Dallas (where I currently live) in terms of good parties and after parties.

I just cant place it up there with places like Miami, Vegas, Chicago, NYC, Philly, or New Orleans for being a crazy party city.
