Being in ABQ, I usually end up connecting in either DFW, PHX, or DEN and all three are decent and I try to avoid having to connect in O"Hare, JFK, or LAX all of which are my least favorite.

I like DFW airport and its amenities. I like that it is busy, you can go all over the world from there but the airport still has elbow room and doesn't have the JFK or O'Hare ratrace element. I don't really like American Airlines however, so that's kind of a conundrum.

US Airways sucks too, but PHX is OK for a hub. My fight connections to Hawaii worked pretty well there. I hope AA keeps the routes to the four primary islands of Hawaii from PHX. I'd like to see Jet Blue set up another hub. Perhaps some gates may open up at PHX where Jet Blue can find their corner in place of some US Airways routes that might be cancelled by AA.

Denver is an interesting airport and if I have to kill time then I don't mind being there. The only problem I have with DIA is if you are going to Denver the airport is way out on the plains of Wyoming somewhere.

It's because out of all the major carriers, Delta is the most tolerable. I'd really like to see Jet Blue pick up some more hub cities.

The thing about DFW is they charge you to enter the airport if you are picking or dropping someone off. Ruins it right there.

My experience was from Dec 2012, but they didnt charge me since I exited on the same side that I entered. They charge people driving "through" because it's a shortcut for the expressway. Sort of like a toll for cutting through the airport.

Sorry about the confusion. I hate how when you create these polls you can't go back and add more options. I feel bad about not including DTW and MSP because they are both extremely great Delta hubs.

Just to clarify -- it can be any airport you think is best from a hub standpoint. That can be from availability of flights, size of aircraft used, terminal amenities, and preference of airline.

For me, I would go with ATL. It has over 75% of all flight on mainline aircraft and a great terminal layout. Compare that to United at Chicago where it's only 30% mainline. The rest are on regional jets.

Worst? I'd go with my home airport which deserves it's terrible reputation -- Newark (EWR).

I say DFW and Denver. Both have alright food, are big, and have plenty to do. Maybe DTW as well.

Me being a Chicago native, and having travelled out of O'Hare numerous times, can rightfully say it is the worst and slowest airport with the most delays in the country. It also needs some MAJOR remodeling done.

ATL is clearly the biggest and busiest but in my opinion it's TOO big. It's very easy to miss your gate.

I have almost the same view of JFK as I do ORD, but I think JFK is a BIT more modern.

LAX is bad, but SFO is good. So is Bob Hope, but I guess that's not a hub/

Many other ones aren't really big or I haven't been to them, so I can't really speak.

I'd probably go with DTW or LAX. LAX is easy in and out. DTW is great for connections. ATL or ORD are my least favorite. I hate that they still have smoking lounges at ATL, and that they're not separated from the concourse (you definitely know one is nearby if your gate is next to it). I've also had a lot of bad delays/missed connections in Atlanta. Chicago has nice transit access, but the delays there due to weather are too big an issue.

I love to travel, love aviation and love airports so I am happy in any of them. That being said a few come to mind for connections.

Never have had to connect in Miami since that is where I live. The American Airlines hub is nice, great terminal and diverse destinations.

For me two hubs I enjoy are Detroit and Atlanta. Detroit is very easy to connect in, nice modern terminal.

Atlanta I have always enjoyed. Being an aviation fan just tons of airplanes to watch. The new terminal is fantastic and due to the size of the airport there are so many options for food. One Flys South was by far the best airport meal I have had in the United States. I've have some long connections there and short ones and never had any issues. The trains make it easy to transfer terminals and when I have time the mini-exhibits in the underground walkways are actually pretty interesting.

I enjoy LAX just because the diversity of traffic. New international terminal is very nice too.

Default Baltimore Airport

Baltimore (BWI) is southwest airlines' third largest city that they serve, way larger than Southwest operations in ATL. Spirit airlines also has a focus city there. And by the way you should include all the Baltimore/DC airports as one since many travelers from the whole CSA do use all three. And ever single major airlines has a hub or focus city in Los Angeles. (delta, united, american, southwest, alaska)

MIA is an amazing hub from a Central and South America connection standpoint. Domestically, it's good but not as good as CLT and ATL in the fact that AA doesn't fly MIA to smaller destinations in the Southeast and New England. That could change with the merger though.

MIA, I would also say is more delay prone than ATL. Thunderstorms and easily wreck AA's operation, whereas in ATL, DL seems to recover faster.
