Pick best airport for a U.S. city. Fully evaluate respective hub structure, destination count, delays, and ease of use.

Please note that Los Angeles, Boston/Logan, Orlando, and Baltimore are not on the list because they don't have clear hub carriers.

I forgot to include Delta's Minneapolis and Detroit hubs. Apologies if you were planning on voting for them.

Are you referring to the "best" experience of connecting flights? Are you just wondering what airport has the most destinations and time options under a single carrier? What is "hub structure"?

If you are curious about what city has an unusually large amount of airline operations given its relative size and economic importance, I would probably say Atlanta - but that is a business decision that largely works for Delta. I have my opinions on US airports, but it really has nothing to do with being a "hub" - I like to park, walk to my terminal, go through Pre-check security and board a non-stop flight in under 15 minutes from the moment I lock my car (and not have to wait more than 5 minutes for a taxi or black car at the destination).

In all honesty, I am probably "in and out" quickest at LAX, which is a hub for several airlines. Connecting there would probably be difficult.

I always thought American and Delta had hubs at LAX?

Also, I think SFO is also the hub for Virgin America too.

American, yes. Delta, no.

I am voting for Atl my home Airport I use weekly. Yes it needs a lot of updating in the Concourse area. How it moves it's people and planes is efficiency at its best!

Pittsburgh's airport (no longer a hub but was built as one) may actually have the best HUB design for connecting traffic of any

Interesting read the 1992 NY Times article

For Pittsburgh, a Model Airport at an Immodest Price - NYTimes.com

then the Pittsburgh Gazette article of more recent times

Pittsburgh International Airport's midfield terminal at 20: A shell of its past self - Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

And this one was when it got de-hubed in the middle time period

Dismantling Pittsburgh: Death of an airline hub - USATODAY.com

Oh all airports I ever connected (and I despise connections in general avoid them like the plaque) through to me it was the best for the passenger

DFW. Shortest security lines I've seen at any airport, easy to access and navigate, traffic within and around the airport is great, baggage time is low...without a doubt, the best airport hub I've been to. Followed by ATL and PHX.

In terms of capacity, destinations served, and ease of use, ATL, IAH, and DFW are tops. Other airports have the destination count, but the experience is lacking (the NYC airports, ORD, MIA, LAX, etc.).

IMO, Minneapolis - St. Paul International tops most of those listed. My vote goes to DIA.
