The Black professional population in NYC is probably more concentrated than it is elsewhere. If you're Black and moving to NYC with a good job, there's probably a 80% chance you'll end up living in Harlem or the FG/CH/Bed-Stuy corridor. I don't know about Chicago, but in DC there is no geographic concentration. That's largely because a lot of young Black professionals moving to the region will consider suburban options (Silver Spring, Laurel, Alexandria, Largo, etc.) whereas in NYC they won't. The best neighborhoods with the most amenities in DC--Adams Morgan, U Street, Logan, etc--are all too expensive and the cheaper neighborhoods are very lackluster when it comes to transit access, density, amenities, food options, etc.
This is somewhat true. However, there are still a lot of professional black people that live in DC. They are all over the place.
