Having lived in Starkville, gotta go with Stillwater. Starkville isn't a bad little town, but it's really isolated. Stillwater is less than an hour from both Tulsa and OKC.

Brookings, SD or Pocatello, ID?

Pocatello, ID. Beautiful, near Twin Falls, and not as isolated.

Richmond. Much larger, and also reasonably close to several similar-size and larger metros.
