Montpelier for being less remote and more forested.

South Lake Tahoe. Its close enough to Reno for everyday work/fun (with some work at home days) and not as insanely expensive as Aspen is, and you don't have to drive for hours to get out of the mountains. Being just several hours from the CA Bay Area also helps for occasional trips, which I prefer to Denver.

Erie, PA or Erie Township, MI?

Erie Township... would rather live in the bigger Toledo metro with decent proximity to Detroit than live in the Erie, PA metro yet alone Erie, PA proper.

Punxsutawney, PA or Tunkhannock, PA?

Phoenix. I wouldn't choose to live there but have a cousin in the area. I'm done with cold.
