Baton Rouge. Close to NOLA and Houston, and less snow.
Key West, Florida or Avalon, California?
Avalon, CA
Don't know anyone in FL. Know a lot of people in CA. Both are in beautiful areas, but Avalon on Catalina Island more so IMO. Also has better weather. Key West gets occasional hurricanes, tropical storms, and more hot, humid summer days.
Chico, CA or Fort Collins, CO ?

Wickenburg. Its closer to Phoenix than Walsenburg is to Denver.
Tucson, AZ or Albuquerque, NM?
Albuquerque, NM
Slight edge. Santa Fe is nearby & Taos reasonably close for trips. Has less severe summer heat than Tucson gets; fewer 100 degree days and cooler evenings.
