Charlotte. Seems like it has a better economy, a good mix of transplants (especially from the DMV, so it'll most likely be like a "home away from home" if you will) and natives, larger-scale events, possibly more diverse, larger black presence, larger mix of new construction housing stock along with existing old construction, and a collegiate scene to keep things going.
Philadelphia has the features I prefer. Rich culture, rich history, walkability, old architecture...should I continue?
Boise. I've read that politics and religiosity are much more commonplace in SLC...no thanks
Vancouver, BC or San Diego, CA?
San Diego. ~ 100 miles south of where I grew up, and I while I love Canada, Vancouver doesn't hold much of an appeal for me. If you had said somewhere in Western WA, I would have picked there over SD.

Chicago, IL or New York, NY?
New York. I hate the Chicago winters. My wife is from the east.
San Antonio, has great history and urban bones. And the river walk is pretty cool.
Nashville TN Sacramento CA or Columbus OH?
