St. Louis did invent thin-crust, provel-covered pizza, toasted ravioli, gooey butter cake, the ice cream cone, the hotdog bun, but that doesn't mean it's more influential. It does have one of the oldest baseball teams which was the westernost MLB team until 1955. It is known for Blues music, and its hockey team is named after that. It has a lot of old, beautiful buildings, many of which are being rehabbed. It's where the Dredd Scott trial took place.
I love how New Orleans never makes these types of polls, even though it was one of the most important ceters of commerce of the country for more than half of the 20th century, and to a lesser extent, even today.
