Louis Gossett Jr. says Hollywood films are too violent and bad for children - Washington Times
Georgia is now the third-most popular state for film and TV production, behind New York and California. In 2005 there were about 1,800 to 2,000 full-time jobs in the film industry in Georgia and about 7,000 part-time jobs. Among the entertainments shooting there is the highly popular zombie drama series “The Walking Dead.”
“After the tax incentives were put into place, it started to grow,” Mr. Owens reports. “As of last year the Georgia Film Office estimates that there are about 26,000 full-time jobs and 77,000 part-time jobs.”
They're still dependent on tax credits though.
It's never gonna be stable.
Look how fast the studios were ready to pull out due to that bill.
They don't care about Georgia. They care about saving money. Sorry, but that's the reality.
True. A couple years ago every other movie was made in Pittsburgh because of tax breaks. When those ended the film industry left. Same thing happened in Wilmington, NC. Like you said, it's all about the money.
Same for Michigan.
Maryland.
New jersey.
Louisiana.
It goes on and on.
Even NYC relies heavy on tax breaks.
Hollywood is a lot more than filming. Drive around east Hollywood and just notice all the post production houses.
And that's just one little part of what Hollywood is.
There's probably more independent companies with netflix, hulu etc than ever before.

NC got shut down bad. I remember a story about this guy who moved his VX firm from LA to NC because of the film incentives (Man I wish I could find the article). NC cut their subsidies a month later. I can only imagine how much worse it is now because of the LGBT bill. "Hollywood" cares about states subsidizing their bottom line. They'll drop you easy once they get what's theirs.

No, it's not. One the tax credits drop, or go kaput, you'll see what you're left with.
