You're right, Austin is 27/2.85. It was this link, which has just been updated in the last 24 hours but still only has 16 reports, that I initially saw that only had 7 homicides for the calendar year:

Also, in the case of the Charleston SC area, North Charleston seems to have the brunt of the homicides in that area.
Yes, this is all city limits, and you're right, the vast majority of violent crime in Charleston is actually in North Charleston...

I’m not sure what the number is currently though.

North Charleston 34/30.36...

Police probe deadly shooting on North Charleston's Betty Court | News | postandcourier.com

Charleston and North Charleston combined is 41/16.4 (~250,000 population). That's more than Virginia Beach and Norfolk, which have a combined population of ~698,000 and murder stats of 39/5.59. Almost three times worse!

The APD website usually posts bulletins up pretty quick on the latest homicides and keeps count on the title. Last night was the 28th, although it hasn't been announced.

Norfolk had #29 over the weekend with a murder in Huntersville, to go to 29/11.84 for the year. Norfolk is on pace to finish the year with ~33-34 murders, which would be slightly above it's decade-to-date average of 33, but well short of last year's 46 murders...

A murder in East Charlotte Sunday marked the 78th murder of the year. Charlotte now stands at 78/9.26 for the year, which is 20 above it's decade average of 58, and eleven over last year's 67...

What's the cause of the crime deduction in New York ?

Strict laws or gentrification ??

For a city of 8 million to pump 200+ murders is amazing and should be the blue print for cities like Chicago and Detroit

295 is kinda bad for Philly;

I believe Baltimore and St Louis have the highest murder rates in the country.
