Exactly, and comparing a record summer high here to a normal winter high in St Louis is disingenuous. A more apt comparison would be to compare a record cold day in St Louis, like yesterday to a record hot day here. I would take 118/84 over 12/2 in a heartbeat!👍
For someone who lives here, BIG CATS seems to bag on this place a lot
A lot of people don’t like their current living situations, myself included.
I currently live in the Bay Area, hate everything about it. I’ve been here 2 years, and luckily have a move coming on March 1st. Thankfully, my company loves me, and is letting me relocate for a promotion.
Everything on this thread is all personal opinions, nothing else. To each their own

Most threads are opinions and clearly a poll is very opinion based... even facts will generate different opinions. One could argue Phoenix is the clear winner and population growth proves it, while others will say its quality over quantity and a slower growing area with more history is better.
I don’t take for granted that we have such a wide variety of places to live within the US, having traveled a bit internationally I realize the diversity of natural geography we have is fairly unique.
Phoenix has two seasons — hot and too hot. St. Louis is humid and has some serious winters. Desert scenery is desert scenery while Midwest scenery is Midwest scenery....depends on what you like. There are much better places to live in the Southwest if you want low humidity and a natural environment. Phoenix has an air of artificiality about it, contrived. St. Louis has a lot of problems but it is a well established and somewhat natural setting for a city with 250 years of nationally significant history and a population center going back to the Cahokia metropolis of prehistory. I could happily visit either one but would be more comfortable in St. Louis. Phoenix is about three times bigger than St. Louis...a city that cannot expand.
Phoenix history dates back more 9,000 years when nomadic paleo-Indians inhabited the area, eventually the Hohokam settled a larger population in the area around 1AD until they quickly and mysteriously vanished around 1450. The history of Natives in the area is well preserved at the Heard museum, recognized as one of the top Native museums in the country. You can also visit ruins within the city limits at Pueblo Grande and another site about 80 miles away called Casa Grande.
For some of us, there's an unmatched beauty created in one of the lushest deserts in the world. Being surrounded by unique geography, along with flora and fauna that are found nowhere else in the world has an unrivaled feel. Spring time in the Sonoran should be on every person's bucket list.
To me, the city of STL just has more charm and history without a doubt. And the crime everyone claims is so bad, is literally contained to a very few select areas, most of STL and all of its suburbs are very nice areas.
The style of Phoenix is completely unappealing to me. The style of homes, scenery, weather, etc...I just don’t care for any of it. Fake grass or rocks as my yard, no thank you. But that’s my personal opinion.
How much time have you spent in Phoenix? It sounds like you've visited a few tourist spots and read a lot of opinions on this board. It's a big city, the older parts of town are where the heart and soul live. Newcomers tend to fancy the suburbs but those of us who have been here long term know better.

I'd trade you, I like the Bay Area (and yes I know it's expensive)

It’s not the cost of living I hate, I make plenty of money to afford the area.
The homeless population is out of control, the traffic is terrible, and I cannot deal with far left, liberal extremists any longer. Plus petty crime is crazy everywhere, even nice areas like where I live (Walnut Creek).

Welcome to any big metro, not unique to the Bay Area
Hard to beat the clean, rich, beautiful women vibe of Scottsdale, though
