I don't think either is particularly well-known or popular. Let's not act as though Roanoke is in the same category as Asheville or Charleston.

This may be the case but compared to Columbus, Ga. it is!

It's not like Columbus is consistently under the radar. The massive reclamation project on the Chattahoochee has attracted the attention of whitewater enthusiasts and freestyle competition from throughout the country. The project has also sparked an entertainment renaissance on Columbus' riverfront.

If there is any such momentum occurring in Roanoke, it's not on my radar. If there is, I'd love to hear about it.

I completely disagree. Neither stands out within their respective states and certainly not regionally. What amenities or attractions does Roanoke have that makes it stand head and shoulders above Columbus? I'm just not seeing it. I never heard much about Columbus while living in Atlanta and I don't hear much about Roanoke living in the DMV.

It's a lot activity on the Riverfront. I'm excited about mix use project that's being built.
