Within about the same distance of Chicago to the midwestern cities, Rochester is within driving distance of Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Buffalo, Toronto, Albany, Burlington, and Ottawa. Just a few miles further (about 30) takes you to Detroit, Montreal, Philadelphia, or NY City. Even DC and Boston are less than 7 hours away.

And there is a heck of a lot better scenery along the drives out of Rochester (Adirondacks, Catskills, Allegheny,
Berkshires, Poconos, Great Lakes, 1000 Islands, etc).
None of these cities have anything like High Falls though. A 95 foot cascade right Downtown is and the Genesee Gorge is pretty unique to a any city.

Which list are you referring to, as there are multiple lists in the post?

Again, you there are plenty of projects that are occurring. I’m not getting into the ever changing criteria of how much this or that project costs.

In terms of Rochester, besides Downtown, this area of the city would be the best bet: https://rocwiki.org/Southeast_Quadrant

Home - Celebrate City Living (click on the neighborhoods in yellow)

For instance, this is a street view of the Park Avenue neighborhood in that quadrant: https://www.google.com/maps/@43.1483...7i13312!8i6656

Park Avenue | Rochester NY | Restaurant | Boutique | Salon | Coffee Shop | Deli | Pub | 14607

Why don't you start by listing big projects in Rochester like over 50 to 100 Million per project. The fact is there are very few...many of the "projects" you posted are really just trying to rehab old homes. That's great but Louisville has that by the thousands in it's trendy neighborhoods and what's more? Louisville's historically ghetto west end is getting in on the development act with many huge multi million dollar developments under construction. Trust me when I tell you Rochester cannot hold a candle to the amount of construction in Louisville the last 3 years.

No, that’s not all that was listed for Rochester... Not to get stuck on this aspect, Rochester offers water activities due to Lake Ontario, including beaches. https://www2.monroecounty.gov/parks-ontariobeach.php

Rochester has hundreds of millions of dollars of projects in the works right now. There are entire brand new neighborhoods being built.

Including the "Neighborhood of Play" which is going to be a Hotel, hundreds of new Apartments, Retail and an expansion at the Strong Museum. The expansion is going to house the Video Game Hall of Fame including an immersive walk through video game experience. The Strong Museum of Play and the neighborhood they are building is like a little Disney World.

There are 5 hotels being built/renovated all within a few miles of each other:

There are multiple brand new apartments being built on the former Inner Loop which was filled in for development space:

There are exciting and innovative developments happening right now that I mentioned such as the Strong Museum Neighborhood of Play that can only be matched in a few cities.

I'm only touching on a few things here, but also going along with the projects I've mentioned, Rochester is also designing and looking to transform the city into a "City of Play". There are projects being designed on the River as well. They are in their infancy, but Rochester has a bright and exciting future.

That's neat but Louisville has "hundreds of millions" in projects announced every couple months. Louisville has had 13 BILLION in investment in the city proper ALONE in the last 3-4 years. Rochester shouldn't feel bad....it can't even come close to competing with what is going on in Louisville.

Cincinnati also has billions in developments and is twice as large as Rochester and about 700k bigger than Louisville in MSA.

When you say “city limits” for Louisville, are you referring to the old or newer city limits?

Rochester is also smaller in terms of land area and population. So, to harp on city development isn’t necessarily going to be a tit for tat comparison anyway.

Also, what else besides projects is there to compare?

Glad that you said all of this. You saved me from it. Rochester has some good bones. We also have a beach that gets overlooked. No offense, but Louisville is ok, but not that special. I'd pick Cincinnati slightly above Rochester, and way above Louisville. I'm just not a big fan of Louisville.

And Ck, props to you brother. You do NY state proud. Glad your a NY'er. And I love me some Cuse basketball.
