Speaking of nightlife, it's a few days away from 2019 and I've heard 50 Cent "In Da Club" three times within the past week. The beach can be intensely corny at times.

Yes, microclimates....I find Brickell cooler than Miami Beach, especially during the summer...constant breezes off the bay and taller buildings block out some of the sun and provide more shade. I find summers in Brickell tolerable, bordering on outright enjoyable.
As for Brickell v SoBe, more clean cut professionals with fewer tourists in Brickell, though less “mixed” (80% Latino, whereas Beach will have more American white, Canadians and Europeans)...both areas are very walkable though I find more places/options within a slightly shorter walking radius in Brickell.

OP I’m the exact same situation. Making sf money remotely and split between Miami, nyc, Chicago
I looked at chicago as well, but growing up in michigan before moving to the bay area made me want to stay away from the midwest. No state income tax in florida is also a big plus imo

No state income tax in Texas, either. But property taxes are higher in Texas.
