I've often wondered how similar these two cities are. I haven't really been to either one of them; I've only passed through them on Interstates. The one big difference that I've always presumed is due to Ohio State. Indy doesn't have anything that compares at that magnitude.
Indy makes up for its lack of a large public university with having professional Football and Basketball teams.
It's actually hard to think of two cities that are good pairs, especially when it comes to sizes. However, I feel like these are decent pairs.
Durham and Winston-Salem
Richmond and Louisville
Montgomery and Jackson
Fort Worth and Oklahoma City
Cincinnati and St. Louis
Columbus and Indianapolis
If we can cross into Canada, then I'd also say Chicago and Toronto, Denver and Calgary, Seattle and Vancouver.
