I will say, the reason why I hesitate to compare Cleveland to Detroit is that the urban decay/prairie in Detroit is way worse than cleveland(which is already bad enough). Cleveland has a lot more areas relatively intact while Detroit has only a few areas spread from decay, and many of those areas like Indian Village are pretty small. Also, the cuyahoga river cuts through Cleveland a lot differently than any body of water in Detroit.
But overall, I think the extreme urban decay factor makes Detroit hard to compare to any city. To me, I think Cleveland and buffalo are more similar to eachother than any one of the two are to Detroit.

Nashville = Austin
Los Angeles = City of Angels
I know Nashville is red hot so I understand wanting to distance themselves from a podunk town like Austin, but there are similarities.
