Baltimore literally worse than drug war-plagued Central American banana republics
Comparing Baltimore to El Salvador is akin to comparing Chicago to Mexico and calling Chicago worse than Mexico. You completely miss the point that in a country like El Salvador their are cities with 3-4 times the rate of Baltimore and probably neighborhoods 10 times the rate of Baltimore and at least 2-3 times as bad as Baltimore's worst area.

yes its true baltimore is doing worse rn compared to the 1990s but in no way does baltimore compare to the central american cities filled with drugs
its like saying nyc and los angeles is worse than ciduad victoria based on numbers

naw...there are ways it compares. It's not as bad but there are points of comparison.
Both Baltimore County and St. Louis County, outside of city limits, have plenty of homicides. Balt County had 50 last year and St. Louis County 64. Metro Baltimore's homicide rate is close to 20/100k.
I think neighborhoods are ultimately what I look at. St. Louis is a good example. Delmar Loop is a great place to stay and you can walk along Delmar in that part of town, cross into University City and not know you've left St. Louis city limits. And it's fairly safe at night. But I also wouldn't walk too far out of the neighborhood north or east.
DC's another example, even when the city was erupting in the 90s, Georgetown was as safe then as it is now.
Bad sign for Baltimore for Baltimore county to have 50 homicides. That's the record within 44 years and up 85% from last years 37. Usually the county has 20-40 murders but never increased regardless of what Baltimore city is doing. Even though PG county had 75 last year the difference between that and Baltimore county is narrowing.
Austin is now at 6. A mother was charged with injury to a child instead of capital murder for killing her 22 month old with blunt force trauma to the head. Travis County is a joke.
Chicago is up to 30, a 30% increase over this point last year. But it's still comparatively better than the carnage of 2016 and 2017.
You really shouldn't compare this January to last, since last January had the Polar Vortex, when only Jussie Smolette and his two Nigerian friends were the only ones on the street committing crimes.

wow PG is pretty damn low nowadays. It had 151 15 years ago, and 100 just 10 years ago
