The best comparison is probably to Boston. Chicago is not a very transient city. A large portion of the population is from Chicago (or Chicagoland), and has been here all their lives. There is a sizable Midewestern (Big Ten alum) population, as Chicago is kind of the anchor of the Midwest (similar to how Boston is an anchor city for New England). Given that Chicago is a global city, there is also a rather large international, foreign-born population here. Much larger than what you'll find in Philly.

About a third of the population in Chicago is Hispanic (with close to 80% being Mexican, and the other 20% Puerto Rican). They are not the beer and sports culture. The Hispanic population here in Chicago is much larger and more monolithic (and different) than Philly's so that would be a difference. I think the white populations are very similar (with Chicago's being much more Polish and Philly's being much more Italian, and both having large Irish populations).

These are generalizations, but it gives you the sense of the populations.

Seriously, you haven't a clue. I looked at some of your previous posts, and you present yourself as an educated person. The correct answer, here, is Chicago.

People are stuck into the house with too much time, lol. Most people have started a madeup thread every once in a while where they just ask a question for entertainment, lol. The OP is trying to start beef between Chicago and Philly posters, but we have a good relationship with one another

Chicago does have more to offer in the fine/performing art space than Philly, though not by much. However on a per-capita basis Philly has more people in the arts with no interest in sports due to the number of transplants from other NE cities.

Chicago core of Loop/West Loop/River North has a much more 'Bro' culture than in Philly core Center City.

What is with all this professionals in the Midwest. Means by far just Bro less-cultured ones, that should bow to the East Coast elite ones. PLEEEZE, it is showing something allright.

At least you see Philly in this elite club rather then just in NYC's shadow.

Not the beer and sports culture? They might not flock to white bro sports bars but that is not true. Look at the crowds of any sports game in a city with a lot of Hispanics (at least 3 out of the 4 big sports).

Is a city having a 1/3 of its city Hispanics now a lessening factor? Tell LA that.

Philly has nearly 15% more African-Americans. Is that a lessening slight to use too?

Really, both cities have thier bar-filling sports fanatics. One city might have more that are radical fanatics.

Thread most be loosing amenities to discus and boast of.

At least in terms of the formal "culture," both cities are among the Top 20 for "large communities" according to this report: https://culturaldata.org/pages/arts-...cy-index-2019/

FTR, Philly ranks at #11, with Chicago at #18. I think that's splitting hairs and obviously this is just one study, though, since both clearly have a plethora to offer in the culture department. Chicago just operates on a larger scale.

That study is not right lolol no way Nashville is ranked higher than Philly, Chicago, Cleveland in terms of fine/performing arts for music, dance, theater, museums, high culture events and exhibitions.

Right lol.

But seriously, just watch a Dodgers or Astros game. The idea that Hispanics don't follow sports is laughable.
