1. Phoenix = 103.33*F

4. New Orleans (tie) = 99.67*F

Interesting that only Las Vegas, Phoenix and Atlanta (probably to a lesser degree) have the benefit higher elevation areas within 2 or so hours drive time and temperatures 20-30 degrees cooler.
Even some of suburban Phoenix and Las Vegas cities do not reach the numbers recorded at each cities airports highlighted here, which happen to be at the lowest elevation levels and are highly impacted by UHI effects in each location.
For me, it's a tie between Phoenix and Las Vegas. I get the whole "dry heat" thing. But when you're continually experiencing 110+ degrees day in and day out, that level of blow torch type heat wears on me much worse than the heat and humidity (which isn't a big deal to me personally). I love Tampa's and Orlando's climates, but would be miserable in Phoenix and Las Vegas. I also prefer the lush, green, flora beauty of more humid climates to the dry, barran, brown landscape of the desert (though it does have it's own special beauty). But it's all subjective to people's own preferences and tolerances.

But shade works in dry heat, and it actually cools down at night. Neither of those happen down south.

Phoenix vs. Vegas isn't a tie here, Phoenix is definitely hotter. I agree these are the top 2, but the Texas Triangle is pretty close to Vegas. Phoenix is the hottest.
One of the factors that a lot of you are missing is that Tampa and Orlando don't substantially cool off in the fall. The heat is never ending. When other cities are cooling off in October, the heat and humidity rolls on well into mid November in Central Florida. That is a major factor.
Can't tolerate any city where night time lows never go below 70 degrees in the summer months..

Well one of you will be happy in Las Vegas. Summer monthly lows are in the mid to upper 60s. On average never above 70.
I would note the average summer lows are well less in Las Vegas than Orlando or Houston. So Las Vegas will be more pleasant until noon or so when it hits 100. And it is common for the heat index in both to exceed that in Las Vegas most of the afternoon.
