Population Growth: NC. A central Sunbelt location on the heavily populated east coast gives it the advantage. Brighter Future: Draw Best Major Cities: Seattle over Charlotte, and Seattle Metro (including Tacoma) over CLT Metro, but it gets murky after that. Raleigh-Durham is a little smaller than Portland/Vancouver but definitely bigger than Spokane, and Greensboro/Winston-Salem/High Point over Spokane and Tri-Cities. Best Secondary Cities: NC. It has a variety of small to medium-sized cities spread out throughout the state, though most people live in the Piedmont. WA does, too, but not as many, and NC has a better beach city (Wilmington) and mountain city (Asheville). Topography & Landscapes: WA. NC's variety is more impressive than many people think, but the rawness and contrast of WA's landforms do it for me. I don't think I'll every be Economy: Draw Higher Education: NC's loaded with impressive universities and colleges, including UNC, Duke, and Wake Forest. Weather: Varies by region for both- and highly subjective, obviously. I'm done with high heat and humidity, so Western WA is better for me, but I could live in NC over 3,000'.
Again, I've lived a big chunk of my life in Washington and in North Carolina, so I'm very familiar with both. This is a close contest, overall. But I'm very intentionally living on the west coast, and have no interest in moving back east. WA is my home now, and my choice in this competition.
I voted NC. Love Seattle but there’s just so much more to NC
