To be clear, I love all of the US but TX is in a belt that will get hammered by these effects within most of our lifetimes. That saddens me, and makes WA the clear option regardless.
Even with climate change Texas will be fine. Humans have lived and do thrive in much hotter climates.

I know what you were saying.

My point was, every state has its trade offs and what may work for one person may not work for another.

If they have options and value comfort, why would they?

People have lived and do thrive in cold climates, but they've gravitated toward more comfortable ones in the US.

If you're not comfortable anymore, they'll do what they've always done.

But to each his/her own.
Ironically, most places with "9 months of darkness" have a far higher standard of living than Texas.

Really comes down to cost. If it’s affordable they will come.

Do people actually believe we have 9 months of darkness here?

Yeah, that's pretty funny about the "9 months".

Thealpinist, cost is certainly a factor. But there are a lot of cheap places. Cost AND climate AND economic opportunity AND lifestyle...all factors. If Texas loses its climate advantage and the other factors are roughly equal, it'll lose some pull. Further, some of the other factors have apparently been going to the wrong way, like cost.

It's no different than people here who believe 98*F with a 60% humidity is normal weather for all of Texas.
