Phoenix by a long margin.
The food is way better in Phoenix plus I hate the freezing cold.

3 to 4 months of warm to hot weather is too short to enjoy the lakes?

I cannot imagine the water feels comfortable at all to swim in.

The lakes get warm as the temps start to rise. This year the lakes are actually warmer than they should be which is worrying.

Not sure I’d want to live in either. If I had to choose I’d probably go with Phoenix though. It’s warm and I like the scenery more.

Sorry, but you're telling me I don't know what is and isn't comfortable to me? I have family scattered around Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, and Minnesota. I grew up in the Chicagoland area. I also know that depending on where the lake is located can determine whether or not it is comfortable to swim in yet. I own a pool here in Phoenix and won't get in until at least mid-late May.

That article was written in April... By the time summer hits and we get 90 degree days, the lakes are plenty warm to swim in. I grew up swimming in the public pools in Mpls in the summer as a child.

Plenty warm is subjective. Today's water temperature in Minnesota is 73.4. According to the World Health Organization, 78-86 degrees is generally comfortable and safe, but I understand water should be at least 70 degrees - that's still quite chilly for me. The official water temperature required for Olympic swimming competitions is between 77-82 degrees.

Wow, only 73 in August. I was thinking it would at least get to the high 70s. I'm with you with Liam, that is not very comfortable swimming for me. I'm sure it feels refreshing on a hot day.
