A man was shot and killed in Hampton while driving, veering off the road and hitting a fire hydrant. This happened in the Aberdeen area. That's 21 for the year.

Homicides are down all across the board. Even the only CA city (san bernardino) to have a major spike in the first half has slowed down to about just 3 so far in November.
The total ytd has already eclipsed the 2020 high of 69 but is looking to finish in the mid 70s based on predictions, which rounds it to about 35 per 100k.
Maybe things are just not as bad as it sounds.
Albiet still a bit worse than before the Corona.

I thought a few cities were still higher than last year, Atlanta and Milwaukee come to mind?

But good to see lower numbers for many other large cities, Chicago, New York, Philadelphia Houston, etc., Let's hope this is the start of a good trend and not a fluke period.

Milwaukee is still higher than last year -- currently at 198 (an all-time record) and up 11% from last year.

Still might be slowing down as of recent, I remember Milwaukee was at 30ish percent up over previous year and now settled down to 11. San Bernardino, Ca is the same way in that the rise was roughly 35% over previous YTD but now isn't near as high (don't want to do the math).
This slowdown may carry into next year (hopefully).
