Don't get me wrong DFW south of I-30 has some very nice communities. One community in particular I wouldn't mind living in at all is on the border of Grand Prairie/Mansfield/ Cedar Hill near Joe Pool Lake. A really beautiful community with a heavy middle class to affluent Black population throughout that area. I believe Black people are the majority in that area. Also has some really good schools in that area. Which isn't easy to find a area with that many Black people doing financially good and maintaining great schools.

For all the praise burbs like Desoto or Cedar Hill get, outside of Cedar Hill collegiate school district their public schools are not that great. Which kind of reminds me of predominately Black areas in Atlanta and PG County. Here you have a healthy size affluent predominately Black community but the public schools generally tend to be not so impressive.

So yeah I thought about moving my family to the Mira Lagos community and nearby communities in that part of DFW but outside of that and a few small pockets, that area feels really cut off from the new developments and projects going on all throughout the DFW area.

Most transplants are moving to the burbs north of I-30 and that includes Black transplants. And unfortunately compared to other groups the Black population in most booming burbs north of I-30 are pretty low. And also that's where a big chunk of good paying jobs are located in the DFW metroplex.

Now if that's not important to you than the north DFW burbs are fine if you're looking for Suburban life. Plano and Frisco for example probably have the most amenities bar none than any burb in Texas. I actually like hanging out in some spots in Plano whenever I go visit my sister and her Family in DFW.

But here in Houston, living in the unincorporated area of Katy I don't have to feel like I'm completely isolated from everything while still reaping the benefits of living in a very diverse area with a significant percentage of Black people. The school I enrolled my daughter in (Harmony) is predominantly Continental African and African American with a good percentage of Asian/ Hispanic and White students and staff. I also live right down the street from Fort Bend County. I'm able to be in a highly diverse area while being in close proximity to all the amenities I could get in North Dallas burbs.

The South Dallas burbs are lacking that even though I've heard it's gotten better it still has a long way to go. Like I seriously don't understand how there's no Trader Joes or Whole Foods or any decent quality grocery store south of I-30? With the exception of Whole Foods in Arlington.

What is considered Northeast San Antonio though? I'm curious to know? Because Northeast Texas/ Southeast Texas, Killeen-Ft.Hood and Waco(and surrounding towns) probably have a higher concentration of Black people than NE San Antonio and Pflugerville.
I graduated from that school, it’s actually currently ranked the best Charter School in Houston and when I went it was basically 25% of every race with white people being the smallest group, largely because half the white population was Middle Eastern. It was trending black in the younger ages while I was there, and it’s probably the best school in Houston with that high a black percentage (35% for Middle School and HS, maybe 45% for elementary)

It does stupid well ranking wise using this which makes sense, because it’s diversity is unmatched for how good of a school it is.

Not sure why it’s that way…but it is.

Houston is FAR more welcoming in that aspect, and if you’re really into black culture, there’s fewer places you’d rather be. Houston has it all in that it has a highly booming black culture AND you can pretty much get the job you want (though probably not as high level as it would be in DFW…they are far more corporate). I know this sounds biased, but I swear I’m not trying to be. This information is based on personal experience (I’ve lived in both areas) and the experiences I’ve heard from others.
Dallas is more a Corporate Environment
Hpuston more laidback feel with a blue collar and white
Collar feel more culture aspect similar like San Antonio
Except the San Antonio Downtown

Yea. That was a pretty solid video. Houston is definitely the top 2 city for blacks right now. I’m loving it.

I'm working right now so I have not watched the vid, but Day by day DFW is becoming more even with Houston for Blacks. It is night and day compared to how it was in the 90s

I'd say that's true except for a heavy concentration of Cultural Black vibrancy and social scenes throughout the metro. IMO Houston is still ahead of Dallas in that category and I think it's a noticeable difference too. For the 20-34 crowd (especially SINGLE -NOT MARRIED crowd) I think Houston generally appeals to that demographic more than Dallas. I think Dallas starts to look better for Black families who careless about social gatherings majority days of the week and more about safety, schools and employment.

This is true. The Houston MSA is adding tons of Black residents in the 25-35 range based on the census data.
