The South doesn’t have a premier city, just a bunch of powerhouse regional cities.

This is far from the truth, based on most global reports that I've seen. Lately, only NYC, LA, Chicago, SF, Boston and Washington constantly outranks Atlanta, especially regarding outlook.

Funny that you say Atlanta doesn't influence VA. What does VA impact, specifically?

Also, for someone that's lived overseas, I'll tell you the "Georgia" or whatever culture you want go call it, impacts the European and Asian countries....esp Hip Hop...

This.

NY, Chicago and LA are all 3times+ the size of the next largest metro in their respective regions.

The South doesn't have a metro that comes any where near that. And if there is a top contender it is certainly not superboosted Atlanta. Atlanta is the 3rd largest metro and 4th largest Urban Area in the south with DC excluded.

Like someone up-thread said, there are no justifications for New York, LA and Chicago to claim the primate title. But Atlanta boosters do the most. Widdling the south to a region that's not even the most populated region of the south JUST TO MAKE ATL A VIABLE CHOICE.
Atlanta is roughly three times larger the next largest metro in its respective region. (Charlotte)

Good grief this thread has gone all over the place and is now rehashing arguments made in countless other threads. Time to close it.
