Providence: 130,903

Boston: 96,966
San Francisco: 30,773
Los Angeles: 29,874

Thanks. Wow Providence that’s like 8% of their whole metro. That’s impressive with he Cape Verdean that’s probably a 10% Portuguese or partial Portuguese descent:
Something Ive never done before in these threads what measure the ancestry of the "white" population relative to the whole. Because Arabs, Brazilians, Persians, and the like are counted as "white" on the census, they are included. All groups over 3.0% of the total white population are listed. Also only listing those that have a white population of over 1,000,000.
Ill give it a shot here.
New York City - 8,225,020
Italian: 2,108,416 - 25.6%

Polish: 658,240 - 8.0%

The more Southeast it gets, the more English it gets (minus South Louisiana and Central/South Florida).
The more Midwest it gets (plus South Texas and Pennsylvania), the more German it gets.
The closer to Chicago you get and the more Chicago transplants you get, the more Polish it gets (plus NYC).
The more Northeast you get, the more Irish and Italian it gets (and Chicago for both, South Florida for Italians).
The closer to South Louisiana and New England you get, the more French it gets.
Detroit is the Arab Capital of the US.
The Boston/Providence area is the Portuguese capital in the US.
Minneapolis/St. Paul is the Scandinavian Capital of the US with Seattle/Tacoma being a strong number 2.
California is just a hodgepodge, especially LA.
The closer to South Louisiana and New England you get, the more French it gets.
I’m intrigued by the options for either “French” or “French Canadian” in the census. Like, do you think a lot of those French people in the west could trace their heritage back to French Canada, or are they really all from mainland France originally.
