I see the east-coast in some of the architecture of cities like SF and Oakland. But for the most part, those 2 cities look distinctly Californian. I wouldn't confuse either of those cities for Boston, NY, or Philly. Once you see the palm trees and mountains, and some of the Spanish-influenced architecture as apposed to the Victorian that is abundant in those 2 cities, than you'll know it's CA. Density and walk-ability aren't exclusive to the Northeast.
