Northern midwest and the Great Lakes accent might be the same, but the Chicago accent is very different from that one. Anyway...

I don't care either way too much about that accent on guys- it sounds a little like the Boston, Philly, and Chicago accents in that it seems 'normal' and reminds me of home. But on chicks? I went on a cruise in the Caribbean with my parents when I was like 14 or 15, and I met two girls from Jersey with thick, thick Jersey accents. Let's just say they made the experience stick with me the rest of my life- I love to hear girls with Jersey/NYC/LI accents.

LOL! I have to agree and that's why I voted for the NYC accent. I dated a girl from there and I loved her accent. I actually wanted to move there b/c you can't find a lot of tall blonde guys and that is why the girls there would like to date one. I've never seen so many dark-haired Italian girls in my life when I went there! LOL!

On the average, women have thicker southern accents than men, discounting those of lower socioeconomic status.
Actually I think it's more such Dr. Phil, something annoying about his holier-than-thou attitude .

Some guys pull it off, but I actually don't like the cornball country music accent on either men or women that much. I prefer the more natural Southern accent, as long as it's not too nasal.

Lol, can you record a clip of your voice so we can hear? Is it as strong as like My Cousin Vinnie, or Goodfellas? lol

I don't think so, but it's fairly strong I'm told. I'll make a recording of it soon so you can be the judge

The "Cornball" country accent is pulled off by non-southerners all the time, such as Taylor Swift. When you hear the girl talk, there's not a touch of twang, but when she sings, she really twangs it up.
