What do you mean? I'm not sure what you're looking for me to prove to you - the 2 million population in 280 square miles?

The thread is about regional tiers of cities..."What are the best second tier cities in the South?". I agree, there are 3 U.S. cities ahead of the rest and those would be considered Tier 1 cities. But each region's cities can be divided into Tiers, and the southern tiers look something like:
Tier 1: Dallas, Atlanta, Miami, and Houston
Tier 2: San Antonio, Charlotte, Nashville New Orleans, Birmingham, Memphis, Raleigh, Tampa, Jacksonville, Orlando, St. Petersburg, Austin, Fort Worth, Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Louisville, Oklahoma City, Richmond
Tier 3: Little Rock, Shreveport, Baton Rouge, Knoxville, Lexington, Durham, Greensboro, Winston-Salem, Chattanooga, Columbia, Charleston, Greenville, Spartanburg, Asheville, Wilmington, Fayetteville, Myrtle Beach, Fort Lauderdale, Hialeah, Tallahassee, Mobile, Huntsville, Montgomery, Augusta, Macon, Columbus, Savannah, Jackson, El Paso, Corpus Christi, Charleston WV

I'm not talking about simply Fulton and Dekalb counties...I'm talking about annexing the more populated areas adjacent to the city. It's only garbage if you don't have much knowledge of the city...which you guys don't. You should stick to cheerleading for your own city.
The 2 million was just a number I pulled out of the air. It's actually more like 1.2 million in 280 square miles. God, you people are some kind of bitter.
anyone have any good pictures of the old charlotte downtown area---say 10 to 15 years ago. as a wild guess, how much of the city has been demolished to make room for the new growth? curious.

Man...they just erased Charlotte and started over didn't they?
Pretty much. It started back in the 60s when the mostly black neighborhood of 'Brooklyn' (located in uptown Charlotte's present day second ward) was cleared out in the name of 'progress'. Uptown Charlotte is basically one of America's largest urban gentrification projects. Most people don't know about what went down in uptown.
The construction of I-277 had a lot to do with it as well.
