The Midwest? Yes the people can be really nice, especially where I live. Chicago is a great city. I love to visit, but I prefer my satellite suburb. It's close enough, yet a world away.

The worst? Gangs and daily shootings. Definitely not enough snow. The ridiculous taxes and machine politics.

The West? Yosemite, Highway one to Big Sur in California. A snow day in the high Sierra Mountains. Trout fishing in the streams.

The worst? Hot hot hot dry summers with nothing much green growing. The ridiculous high priced housing market.
This is very dependent on where in the Midwest. Nearly all of the UP, northern WI, and Duluth area get copious amounts of snow. Duluth gets very little Lake Effect snow, yet we still top 80" a year on average. The UP can get up to 200" in spots. Part of the Midwest are no stranger to snow.

While it may be true that the Northeast gets more snow as a whole than the Midwest as a whole, saying the Midwest doesn't get enough snow is not entirely true.
