Still existing homes only, ruling out new construction. Third time's a charm maybe?

If you can find new construction real estate price data for metro Philadelphia and Chicago the chances are Philadelphia median home prices will be more expensive. Unfortunately.

The Philadlephia suburban counties are where the crux of new construction is happening in the Philly region and is fully entrenched as part of the northeast professional corridor. Id agree with you if you were arguing city proper Chi vs Philly but not metro.

I have to tell you I'm extremely wary of any propaganda concerning "metro" NYC as its embellished boundaries are quite simply, laughable. The fact that metro NYC has somehow managed to capture Hunterdon and Mercer NJ into its metro throws up an immediate red flag. Those 2 counties are among the richest counties in the usa, have virtually no affiliation with NYC,they both abut metro Philly and are 60-70 miles from Manattan. Yet the data gets included with NYC. In a word, Farce.

What i'm impressed and happy about is that the the Philadelphia voters and supporters on this thread are actually voting for Philadelphia because of the sorrounding cities and not Philadelphia. As expected, Chicago has won this thread easily because of it being Chicago itself and not having to include nearby cities. Chicago is far superior than Philly but of course Philly has their own thing going on and its always fun to visit as well.

Not a fair fight at all; Chi-town all the way. While Philly is no slouch in its own category, Chicago is definitely more progressive and dynamic; it's the quintessential American city.

The good thing about both cities are that they are both relatively affordable big, urban cities.

Both have crime problems. Every major American city does, I guess I choose Chicago. But like Akhenaton06 said, Philly is no slouch. Both cities have alot of similarities, and both have similarities to NYC. Both are LARGE urban centers, with ALOT of history behind them. Chicago was founded by a Haitian, and I am Haitian, so Chicago for me. I believe his last name was DuSable.
