You're including Fortune 1000 companies. The list I put together is Fortune 500 only and CA has 51 Fortune 500.

No, Chicago has 28 unless Decatur (ARcher Daniels Midland), Bloomington (State Farm Insurance Cos.), Peoria (Caterpillar), and Moline (Deere) all of a sudden became part of the Chicagoland area.
It took me a while since I haven't heard of these towns like Melville and Rye Brook (Westchester), Port Washington (Long Island) so I had to look them all up to see if they were part of the NYC metro.
I counted.. NYC Metro has 145 Fortune 500 companies.

I didn't do PA. I just did NY/NJ/CT. And yes, I only looked at the Fortune 500 Companies.
