I agree. Jacksonville is one sprawling suburban mess.

Why is it a suburban mess?

There are some cool, and totally 'non-suburban' neighborhoods in J'ville.
This from someone that has actually spent a great deal of time there.

I have seen a few places mentioned... Atlanta, Miami, Jacksonville. I would say out of those 3, Atlanta has the nicer suburbs for sure. I was actually going to say Atlanta befoe it even came up in conversation. Charlotte also has some nice areas around it. Miami has some expensive/exclusive areas, but most people cant afford them. Jacksonville is too 'sprawly' to be considered in my opinon.

I have 'been around the block', so to speak. So, it's very difficult for me to understand why somebody would cast an objective eye on the neighborhoods that I listed and still say there's nothing there.
So, hate away...but IMO there are some amazing neighborhoods in this city.
You're practically doing the same thing.
Every time someone says something negative about Atlanta you're one of the first people to make everyone know what a great city it is "in your opinion". This is a forum for discussion. I live in Atlanta currently and have every right to voice my opinion on the city.
Whether i like it or not is my opinion just like it is yours to think Atlanta is so great.
Its all relative! Someone from NYC will probably think Atlanta has lots of sprawl while someone from Omaha would think Atlanta is a very dense city. You get my dirft?

Get over it unless the city of Atlanta has ordained you to be it's crusader on CD. Some people are going to love Atlanta for certain reasons and others will despise it for the same.
My favorite citites in the USA are SF, NYC, Seattle, and DC, but im perfectly fine when people voice their dislike of any of those cities.
I have nothing to prove to them, it is their opinion and they are entitled to it. Not everyone will like the exact same things thats why we have opinions so we can make choices for our individual selves.

28 counties??? Wow, I didnt know that. The Atlanta MSA is slightly smaller than DFW and the Houston MSA's.
Houston suburbs actually differ:

But in all seriousness, LA's suburbs are SUPERIOR to EVERYONE else's. No contest, Not even CLOSE!!! Just look at all the places of interest OUTSIDE the city of LA. When you look at that, you will agree with me.

And hey, you're right! This IS a forum for discussion, so I'm discussing, and I'm going to continue to discuss and discuss...so why don't you get over it?
Love SF, Seattle and NYC. DC? Meh.
