I agree that San Diego is better overall in some of these areas, but it really won by a landslide which I didn't expect.
In terms of which city has more diversity does San Diego really win? San Diego has a lot of Asians and Mexicans, but Tampa has a larger Cuban population and doesn't it have a larger African American population as well? I haven't spent a great deal of time in either city, so I'm not sure but it appears they would be equally diverse.
Tampa has been known to be greatly affected by the recession, and people say it's primarily a service and tourism economy which makes it bleak. Although people here complain about San Diego's economy as well. I know the economy has affected everywhere, but how much better is the San Diego economy compared to the Tampa Bay economy?
Tampa for me, more diverse, cheaper, nicer beaches, better weather (more lush greenery from the warm rains), more variety of palm trees. San Diego is beautiful and has nice beaches, the weather is nice, but it is too cool and foggy for much of the year, is INCREDIBLY dry, and pretty materialistic, also conservative and culturally bland.

Tampa is far less diverse, the metro area is 76% white compared to 50% for SD. It's also not anymore liberal than SD, arguably less actually. Also calling SD cultrally bland in comparison to Tampa is a joke.

I really don't have the ability to see San Diego anymore conservative than any Florida city
When I lived in Dallas I met several people from San Diego: they told me that America's finest city was too liberal for them
I guess San Diego - compared to SF and LA - is quite a conservative place, but if it was in the middle of Bible Belt it would be called a socialist/marxist utopia

San Diego's median % relative humidity index is 60-70, not too dry and no too humid either, just in the middle.
I wouldn't say San Diego is culturally bland at all compared to Tampa, in fact the opposite. From my experience, after living in San Diego and visiting Tampa several times, San Diego is way more vibrant and cosmopolitan.

I'm not just talking dry as in terms of humidity, I'm talking in terms of rainfall.
Not a proper comparison. Tampa itself is a lot smaller than the city of SD. However, as a metro area, Tampa Bay is larger (4.3 vs 3.1 mil). Tampa Bay's strong point is along the Gulf of Mexico (from Clearwater Beach down to Sarasota). Whatever action is found in downtown SD, here can be found along the shores, it's spread out. Have only been to LA metro, but I really doubt SD has anything that compares with the above areas. Btw, DT Tampa is improving. Along with St Pete, Sarasota, Clearwater, Tampa Bay probably comes on top. Overall SD has more crime than Tampa too (according to city data).

No it doesn't, SD has a lower crime rate than Tampa.
