I wonder where are some of the "white-est" urban places in the country are?
And I mean this by, which city has the highest concentration of white population living in the urban part of the city.

I have guesses off the top of my head, I don't know maybe Salt Lake City or Boise

What's your definition of large? Boise's pretty small, so I don't know that I'd lump it in with large cities.

My fault uptown, you're right Boise is small. I was thinking of Denver, but, typed Boise.
Anyways, according to carolina blue's posted chart, Portland, OR is the "white-est" city in the country. Thanks.

Maybe you should take a trip to Portland before you determine how white it is. There may be lots of us white-folk there, but most of them are rednecks. Portland has a horrible gang problem with Hispanics and Asians. And I see many, many Asians while I am there, certainly much more diversity than I see in Phoenix, Az.

Well according to the chart, which is out of date (2007), basically is saying that Portland, OR has the "white-est" population in urban core, among the other top 40 large american cities. I know that this is 2 years old and that these figures are estimated, but it has to be somewhat accurate.

And Redjan, the topic is not about Portland's diversity, nor was I comparing its diversity to Phoenix, or any other city for that matter. I was simply trying to find out which city has the highest white population concentrated in the urban core of the city, proper, or limits. NOT SUBURBS.

I think the information is older than that...I see 2007 at the bottom, but the population figures for Atlanta are 9-10 years old. Atlanta is listed at 432,000, but even as recent as 2005 the population was 470,000.

Where are the numbers in the right column coming from? Is that supopse to be the population of the core city? Or the white population? It seems to be hundreds of thousands off for many cities.

DecanJ you're right. Well maybe I can't assume Portland is #1 but, I believe the top 1/4 of the chart can't be too off.

The column on the far right is supposed to represent the total population of the core city, but I see for myself that this chart is inaccurate.
