I just saw on the Weather Channel that the Trinity river in Dallas is flooding. I hope all our Texas posters are safe and sound and are not experiencing any property damage....PITTS.

I'm gald to hear that.... Everyone please remember that even though we are "conversing" in cyberspace; our emotions come through loud and clear...think how you would react, if the "shoe were on the other foot". By the way I live in Sarasota but was raised in Scranton; I have never lived in Philadelphia, just visited often and I fell in love with center city; which is only 1 mile by 2 miles...very pedestrian friendly and totally walkable. I am very proud of Pennsylvania and it's big cities and thousands of smaller cities...a unique state. That said, I now realize that Texas and other states have equally interesting/beautiful cities and towns as well.

If you like Manhattan...visit center city..it is a mini Manhattan but not so overwhelming. .

I find Dallas to be an absolute snoozefest. Philly's location alone gets my vote. There's are reason why a place that's grown so fast is dirt cheap. Yeah, I'm talking to you, Dallas.

Talking to outsiders, anytime I mention Dallas at some point in the conversation the attractiveness of the locals is always brought up and
add in lots of disposable income and you have one Hot combination for
nightlife! Thats one thing Dallas definitely does right. It is so much fun to
go out in Dallas.

Does Dallas have a coherent center city; I mean no disrespect, but many people imply that it is mainly office orientated...I assume that that is not true. Especially after I became aware of all the new art venues and the Trinity project transforming the downtown area. Seems to me you are correct and it sounds like it is "hopping" now. .

I think both Philly and Dallas are equally important overall. Both cities have their strengths. Philly has more urban neighborhoods and is more cosmopolitan. Also, Philly is more well known across the world, and has more historical and cultural value. Also, Philly has better nightlife, a better restaurant scene, and is one of the best cities for higher education. Philly is a very important center for business, but I think Dallas is more prominent as far as business and economics. Also, Dallas is a fast growing city and it is much cleaner and more family friendly than Philly.

I prefer Philly, but I can also see why some would prefer Dallas.

Except for the warm weather in Dallas being very appealing to me, I would rather live in Philly anyday over Dallas. Philly, Boston, DC and New York are my kind of cities.

As far as demographic numbers are concerned I am still amazed at how amazingly close the cities are....

I love how some people love to make the warmer climate cities seem to have zero culture and no substance to make themselves feel better. I moved south from up north and have loved it and have no plans to ever back up there.
