If Portland won over Dallas, I'm positive Seattle will too.
That being said, these two cities are in my top pick for places I want to move in the future.
COL: Dallas! By quite a bit.
Food: Tie!
weather: Dallas!
education: Seattle
economy: Dallas
architecture: Seattle
diversity: Dallas!
sports culture: I'd say this is a tie.
scenery: Seattle, no question!! Though Dallas is actually more beautiful than people give it credit for.
outdoors activity: Seattle, of course!
shopping: Dallas, of course!
who has the worse traffic: I'd have to go with Seattle from what I hear.
transit: Tie. Seattle excels in Bus transit and Dallas in Light rail
Best overall QOL: Definitely a tie!
Location: northern Vermont - previously NM, WA, & MA

-COL: Dallas
-Food: Both are good but I favor Seattle for Pike Market, local food scene, coffeeshops, seafood, and Thai.
-Weather: Dallas, weather in Seattle sucks except in summer
-Education: Seattle
-Economy: toss up
-Architecture: Seattle
-Diversity: probably Dallas
-Sports culture: Seattle, go Seahawks! I also like that the sports venues are downtown, don't really like the Arlington location for NFL & MLB in DFW, missed opportunity for downtown Dallas IMO.
-Scenery: Seattle, no contest whatsoever.
-Outdoors activity: Seattle, obviously.
-Shopping: Dallas, but Seattle is pretty good and has a better downtown shopping scene, but overall Dallas for its
variety, especially high end.
-Who has the worse traffic: both are probably bad, 405 and 520 through Bellevue is awful, as is I-5 in the northern burbs. Seattle needs to hurry up and build more rail lines, especially to the East Side/Bellevue.
-Transit: Dallas because it currently has a bigger more expansive light rail network in place, even though Seattle is more conducive to it. (that's some irony there). I do like that Seattle is building subways though. Perhaps 2025 Seattle will be ahead of the curve. They should have started building their mass transit infrastructure in the 1990's when it was booming, I often wonder what mass transit in Seattle would look like if it hadn't have passed up the Federal funding in the 1970's and was instead given to Atlanta's MARTA system.
-Best overall: Seattle, better downtown, more interesting neighborhoods, much better scenery, and overall a better city.

Food: tie overall. Seattle has fresher produce, seafood, and the restaurants are more creative. Dallas has more ethnic variety and generally better ethnic food overall (sans Filipino, Chinese, and Japanese). The beef is also better in Dallas.
Architecture: Seattle. Dallas lags badly in this category.
Diversity: Dallas hands down.
Sports culture: Dallas in my opinion, but I can see an argument for Seattle.
Scenery and Outdoor activities: Seattle by a long shot
Shopping: Dallas.
Traffic: Bad traffic is more widespread in Dallas.
Transit: Dallas has more extensive rail, but I think Seattle will be the long term winner.
Best overall: I prefer Dallas, but I love to visit Seattle. Both great cities.
Seattle easily in every category. We are talking about TEXAS here people....
I understand you may not like Dallas but lets be a little more objective and not cause a flame war. I like Seattle better overall but in no way agree that it beats Dallas in every category listed.
I think Seattle beats Dallas in diversity. People in city data tend to Look at the demographics and call that diversity. In my point of view diversity is integrated into the culture, it's how everyone interacts with eachother. In city's in the "South" the problem is the minorities tend to be the poorest people in the city those mostly concentrated in low income areas. You don't see the children interacting much with many schools in suburban areas still mostly white. It is true a more diverse range of people live there but it is far from as intergrated and a diversified as Seattle. There is less of an income inequality and people area more excepting of all cultures here, especially the youth of the Seattle area.
-COL - Dallas
-Food - Seattle but Dallas has more variety
-weather - Slightly Dallas
-education - Seattle
-economy - Dallas

-scenery- Seattle no contest
-outdoors activity -Seattle
-shopping - Tie. Seattle has better downtown shopping. Dallas is improving but Dallas has more high end alternatives.
-who has the worse traffic - meh
-transit - as of right now tie. Dallas better light rail but Seattle better bus system.

I can live in both. Don't care for the isolation of Seattle though but always been intrigued by Pacific Northwest.
