Atlanta definitely has a more moderate summer, but it has nothing to do with the trees. Dallas has plenty of shaded areas (the only people who may believe otherwise are those who have never been there), but no amount of shade can shield you from the humidity.

Seattle all the way.

I like where it's situated....PNW versus dull flat hot plain, no contest.

The only possible thing I can think of that Dallas has over Seattle is the amount of sunshine.

Everything else goes to Seattle.

Diversity does not go to Seattle. Not even close.

I mean, Dallas is 4-6 degrees warmer on average in the summer than Atlanta is...that's significant.

Atlanta GA Average Temperatures by Month - Current Results

Dallas TX Average Temperatures by Month - Current Results

Atlanta highs from May To September respectively: 80, 86, 89, 88, 82

Dallas highs from May to September respectively:84, 92, 96, 96, 89
Considering the humidity in Atlanta is far worse, the canopy is irrelevant.

I have never been to Seattle, but I have been to Dallas many times and hated it so it if Seattle by default. I know from my visit to PDX that the Pacific Northwest is the most beautiful area of the 48 contiguous states.

I'd choose Dallas on just about every level......

Only thing Seattle would be tempting me w/ would be weather--
I like their climate....much more than extreme heat

Haha, that must be a joke.

Upstate NY is no where near as diverse as either Dallas or Seattle. Once you get outside of the NYC area, there is nothing in NY thats as diverse as Dallas or Seattle statistically. Period.
