I don't like Food Lion; I went to one in Virginia and was not impressed.

I know I'd miss the tall pines, Publix and the access to the East Coast (most of my family is on this side of the Mississippi), but I'd still be close to my parents and DFW is one of the world's busiest airports, so it's not like I'll be hurting or lacking to get somewhere when I need to get away.
youll probably miss all the great architecture as well. this is one area both dallas and houston are sorely trumped by atlanta

you might also miss the surpus of black-tivity lol

It's not that Dallas thinks they're too good so much as it seems the owners of HEB haven't had any interest in entering the market. Central Market being the exception.

No, Texas does NOT need a Food Lion. Food Lion stinks. If anything, bring Harris-Teeter if you want a North Carolina based grocery store. Matter of fact, wasn't Food Lion once in Texas, but they were pretty much ran out kicking and screaming, right?

I think all of them have their hits and misses. I think that the eclectic nature of Houston makes it the most architecturally inventive and adventurous out of the three.

As for "black-tivity", while Dallas and Houston may not have quite as much as Atlanta, they aren't exactly a slouch. JMHO.

How would you compare Publix and HEB??? I've heard good things about Publix.

Food Lion is alright. It's not as good as Publix or H-E-B. I miss BOTH. Harris Teeter is good though.

heck yeah we got HEB, you never heard of Hurst-Euless-Bedford??? hahha seriously though, my dad is from San Antonio so I was familiar with HEB grocery stores after visting my grandparents there all the time. I always got confused why there was HEB here, but the HEB grocery stores were down there.

Publix, quite simply is the business.

I'll slap my mama for one of their deli sandwiches and iced tea. Great chicken wings and the Birthday Cakes are the BEST.

Clean, well-designed stores, excellent customer service. They are more consistent overall than Kroger or Super Walmart. In other words, you're more likely to run into a clean, well lit Publix than you are a bad one. Kroger's are more hit-and-miss depending on which one you go to.

All gushing aside, they are a bit pricey. I tend to go to Kroger more, because I have a shopper's card there.
