Are you really trying to pitch the endless suburbia of NJ against the 400 years old, extremely dense, diverse and succesful city of more than 6.5 million people?

You still don't get it, do you?

Why? A "city of 6.5 Million people" (your description of the boroughs) does not have the ability to invent some sort of sandwich, or dish, that is unique????

Regarding produce, you know Queens was loaded with farms not too long ago in the grand scheme of things, right?

Should I continue to prove to you that I know more about NY than you do? Because I must admit, it does strike my fancy to do that.

And I'll "LOL" whilst doing so, for effect!

I agree you can't really expect New Jersey to come up with anything: not a baseball team, not own culture and definetely not a big succesfull city...
Again, are you really pitching the endless NJ suburbia agianst a 400 years old, extremely dense and diverse city inhabited by some 6.5 million people? Suburbs versus a city? You expect to win?

Yeah, it started there and left shortly after. What happened? Today Queens has two big movie studios and New Jersey has none. How's that for cultural relevance?

When I was referring to the outer boroughs as mere counties, I was just simply stating that they all work and play in Manhattan just as much as nearby NJians. NJ is independent otherwise just as much as your beloved boroughs. (I'm a proud NJian, I honestly don't need NYC nearby, but since it's there, I might as well benefit.)
But I'm sure Manhattanites go to Jersey for what it has to offer more so than the outer boroughs. Quote and argue me on that.

When the 5 borough system was created, the population became more significant, that was mainly the take off. If it never happened, the outer boroughs would be in NJ or LI's situation.

Yea, we leech NY's culture. It's either that or it's all the NYers who spill into NJ and corrupt it.

No this thread was made because you started off bashing NJ thinking it was OK because your a NYer, and everyone knows if your from NYC your the greatest thing alive! Basically, you made this thread to reap what you sow.

Queens is not only super big with 2.4M people but also the most diverse county in America. Brooklyn with 2.5M is bigger and more succesful than any big city in New Jersey. And of course 2.4 and 2.5 million extremely diverse cities are culturally relevant for America.

C'mon guys, stop at that. You simply have nothing on the boros and you are embarassing yoruself here with your tyrades about boardwalks and recreation areas as evidence of cultural relevance...
Yup, all that 'relevance' and nothing to show for it. Visitors dont care for the boroughs....

How can you belittle NJ attractions when they're top US destinations?
Simply, you can't.

Regardless of what you say, the boroughs cant compare.

Yea, and because of it NJ averages a higher pay, better school systems, and more natural beauty than NYC. What's to hate ? NYC is a beneficial convenience

Yes, what we need is a trip to suburbs. Just for the enlightment.

Yes, you do. In every place on the planet culture forms in big cities not suburbs. You need certain human critical mass for culture to develop. That's why artists tend to migrate to art districts as oppose to staying in small towns and suburbs. New Jersey failed to developed its own cities, it actually abandoned them hence no cultural movement ever started there.
Just an example, the Bronx created hip-hop culture, Brooklyn gave American the Italian-American saga perpetuated by Scrosese, Pacino, Saturday Night Fever and Godfather.
What was left for New Jersey is leech off New York, which you do all the time.. Even Sopranos were filmed in a studio in Queens. That's what you get for being an endless suburbia.
The outer boros on the other hand are a super dense and diverse area inhabited by some 6.5 million people. Go figure...

PS. Peter Luger.
Yes, NJ's restaurants and food culture 100%, absolutely is on par with that of the boroughs. What makes you think that the food in the boroughs is better, exactly? The fact that it's within the geographical limits of NYC, so therefore it is inherently better?

PS: Grimaldi's.

Let me pose this question to the people who are saying that the boroughs > NJ.

Why are there many, many, many more people from the BOROUGHS moving to NJ, (or wishing they could move to NJ), than the other way around?

Seriously. Why is that?

Why is the average home price in NJ higher than the average home price in the boroughs.

Seriously ... why is that?

Maybe because NJ is ... better?

Can somebody offer a different explanation?
