What cities in the south can compete against Augusta. When you compare the Medical Centers or Medical Districts?

Houston maybe?

Augusta the "Medical Center of the South"?

It't not even the medical center of Georgia.

In the south it would be Houston (TMC), followed by Atlanta (CDC and Emory) and then everyone else.

Oh yes continue to sleep on Augusta. Those are larger cities but that doesn't mean anything. Augusta is a fast rising metro of 545k.

MCG has a billion dollar annual impact on the area. Double that if you count MCG Health Inc.’s clinical facilities. Augusta offers several other big hospitals too. Doctors Hospital invested $40 million to expand the Joseph M. Still Burn Center, the largest burn center in the United States and the third largest in the world.

Augusta is on the GA/SC border. But even people from Jackson, MS are sent to Augusta hospitals.

How many miles away do Houston and Atlanta attract.

Lol, I have no doubts that it is Houston, Orlando/Central Florida probably plays a larger role in the medical field than Augusta as well.

LOL. ARE YOU REALLY SERIOUS?!?

OK sorry for that. But Houston's TMC attracts tens of thousands of INTERNATIONAL visitors. Now, i dont know how that will translate to miles, though. So you can only imagine the places where domestic patients from across the US have traveled from just to get to the TMC. Though, there are some better hospitals everywhere in the US, so dont go to hospital rankings and expect to see a bunch of Houston hospitals save a couple. (looking at you Rachael)

For a city of its size, Augusta does have a medical industry that a lot of people would die for. But come on. Saying that Augusta has the top medical district in the South is a bit of a stretch.
