Actually when I am abroad, I say "Dallas" first - being the proud native. I don't remember meeting anyone who was unfamiliar with Big D.

OK this ties cities together. Marvin Zindler (the real reporter) was in Houston and the chicken ranch was near La Grange - after the musical and movie it was moved to Dallas on Greenville Avenue and opened as a restaurant/bar.

Corpus Christi has a much smaller population than those other large metros, including El Paso, so I could see why Corpus would be less known/talked about. Same with Brownsville, Laredo or Amarillo.
