"Obviously, you never experienced the homemade down south cooking. From the homemade buttermilk buiscuits, to the collard greens, the black eyed peas, the sweet potato pies, etc. etc."
I'm far more familiar with the South and its cuisine that I ever wanted or hoped to be. Southern cooking isn't my thing at all. Give me New York or San Francisco for food any day of the week.
Yeah, but a lot of food from those places are not original. Yet, inspired. While "southern" cooking is one of the official cuisines of the United States. All original.
Houston has more of a variety of restaurants/culture due to its size. Portland has a good share of restaurants as well and some great vegan, Thai and chinese. One plus for Portland is everything is close together and the public transit is excellent. Still, Houston has some good southern cooking, I like Buttermilk Bisquits and French Toast
If you haven't found one then you're not looking because they come a dime a dozen in this state.
no, not the dime a dozen kind....I want GOOOOOOD asian food. Mexican food comes dime a dozen here too, but you know that good mexican food, I mean the real good stuff is a little harder to find.

Oh, well maybe it's just me, but I've never been to a Chinese restaurant where the food wasn't "GOOOOOOD".
