That's what happens when your city is the anus-bleaching capital of the known universe.

This makes two posters in this thread who couldn't figure out who the 'butthurt' comment was directed towards. Outstanding.

LA is like NY - it boasts all the master chefs from everywhere else...

never been to NOLA but even my east coast friends have said they have never eaten better food. just regular street food

No, I knew who it was directed toward, however, in retrospect Gateway isn't somebody I wan't on my side, but then again, neither are you.

Only been to New Orleans once and I was disappointed with the food, but that was based on a 2-3 day visit and I didn't really eat an any high-end places...plus I hate cajun food, so I will withhold judgement.

variety, ethnic food, quality, top restaurants, etc. etc.

Go!
I am going to go with New Orleans on this one.

Its funny, despite the fact that Los Angeles and its metro area is so much larger than New Orleans, you rarely hear of food culture or dining in the Los Angeles area. It just does not seem to get mentioned. This is in contrast to New Orleans, which obviously is justly famous for its food scene.

On the topic of food, I seem to remember a bizzare proposal 10 years ago (?)to ban outdoor barbecues in the Los Angeles area (supposedly to cut down on air pollution). Did this ridiculous proposal ever pass?
