And when the dollar was at par in 2012 Ontarios GDP was 600billion USD, yet Ontarios economy has not retracted since.
Wrong, the value of the Canadian Dollar has dropped vs the US Dollar since then.

StatCan says Ontario's GDP in 2016 was $633 Billion Canadian so x $0.74 US(exchange rate on 31 Dec 2016) that = $468 Billion US.

Where did you find this? You are definitely missing some Boston suburbs, which suggest you're missing some SF ones.

Hi, my source is the 2015 Census 5-year estimates from factfinder.census.gov

Which suburbs did I miss?

Not a fan of Chicago, Boston or SF or any major city for living unless it is NYC. Just a personal choice.

If you're using mean family income I noticed a few right away:

Weston $329k (i.e. richest town near Boston)
Westwood $205k (i.e. Where I live)

Looking more closely I also noticed:
Natick, MA $159k
Sherborn, MA $235

There may be a few others, but I don't know a better way to sort through the data other than guess/check.

Chicago is cool to visit but not to live, if I was going to be paying out the you know what it is going to be for NYC not Chicago Boston and SF. I just have a great connection with NYC.

Thanks a lot.

For some reason those places(which I have definitely heard of) dont appear in the list of 'places' at factfinder.census.gov--that's like Philly towns like Villanova and Gladwyne, there is some relationship with a larger entity...lemme take a look

Okay, the reason I didnt see Weston is that its not listed as a census place on its own but part of Middlesex county.

I wonder why that is?

As far as the Bay Area, every single place is listed-any place that is unincorporated simply has the acronym CBD(Census Designated Place) after it. Most places in the country are like that.

I figured it was some census issue.

All those places are discrete towns that are basically the only level of government below the State level None are part of any larger sub-County unit and county government is essentially nonexistent here (every square inch is in an incorporated town of some kind. It’s especially funny that Dover shows up and Westwood and Natick don’t, because both are significantly larger in terms of population. It’s also funny that definite sub-town entities like South Duxbury appear when actual towns don’t. I think the census needs some help with New England geography.

I guess the only way to an accurate count would be to look up each income by town. Far too tedious.

I’ve lived in both metros and this is one of the few comparisons I feel qualified to make. I voted for Boston, because I like living here more than the Bay Area. That’s my situation, though. Boston is better in the things that are important to me. I like seasons and don’t mind the cold. I like that Boston is much more affordable. I think the schools are far better top to bottom, especially at the bottom. Public transit is a lot more effective and traffic isn’t nearly as crazy.

I have to admit that, especially if you’re someone who cares about things like Michelin Stars, San Francisco is way ahead of Boston. It’s a much more famous city that has a much bigger global profile, has more wealth, and is a more interesting tourist destination. Being 3-5 hours from so many mountains is a bigger plus in my book, too.
