I've enjoyed day trips to Wilmington before but I will be spending a few nights there this week. Any tips on restaurants or bars in the downtown area that usually have music? Thanks!

Very disappointed no one has responded to this question...

I'm heading down this weekend, did you find anything worth trying out NRG? See you in the Triangle thread!

The downtown area in Wilmington where all the bars are can be walked in 10 minutes so you can probably find what you are looking for once you arrive. You could also try googling "bars in wilmington" and check their websites to see who offers music on the night you will be here.

I guess there's not much demand for it. My buddy opened a live music bar/restaurant downtown but it lasted less than year and closed in August.

i would say there is healthy demand for quality music, and if you can get quality music people will pay for it... thing is, you need $$ to bring in music from out of town, because local artists here just don't cut it. Nonlocal acts have really taken off here in the past few years, though.

Not counting the annual festivals, just a few years ago the Soapbox was the place to play for our "biggest" acts, which isn't saying much. The Soapbox didn't change, but now it is probably #3, behind Greenfield Lake and Brooklyn Arts Ctr.
