My husband and I are looking at moving closer to the beach with our 2 kids, and from what we've heard, Wilmington is a good place to live.

Can someone tell me which are the "good" and "bad" areas? Which schools are good? My husband is the sole provider and he only makes $30,000/yr. so that will be a factor.

Thanks.

If you are planning to buy a house, Windsor Park in Leland has some budget-priced houses.

Hampstead has some highly rated school, but you may have to search for an affordable place. Other parts of Pender County have affordable houses, and average-rated schools.

Affordable houses are scattered through Wilmington, but you probably should avoid it if it's downtown and run-down. Also check the school ratings, as there are some average and mediocre schools-- just too many to list.
