They are building a very large fast multilane beltway type of road next to the eastern side of compass pointe. It's about 200 ft from the cottage section. When it's finished there will be trucks cars and buses very close. Sound travels easily as there are few trees. A cloverleaf access is right on Andrew Jackson parkway next to the site making access to wilmington a snap. The road is not necessarily a deal breaker. Just buy on the other side of the project. The average building crews are a bit rough with construction. The crews they use for the models are much better. One option is Have the builder build a home to be temporarily used as a model for a year then move in yourself. They will lease the home from you for that period. Or buy an established model home. If you have any home built anywhere watch the quality of construction very closely. I was a contractor for 40 yrs. If you don't know what to watch for hire a local established carpenter to just stop by from time to time and check for you.Money well spent if you ask me. Anyway, the the general project is very very nice.

dear folks considering retiring in Coastal NC - we welcome your dollars to build up our less desirable areas - such as Leland - no self respecting local would live in LA - even if they gave us the keys for free. You will not be close to the beach - the traffic into Wilm while only a few miles down the highway is backed up to hell and will take you half hour or more to travel it on a good day not to mention in the summer beach season - the Brunswick and Cape Fear Rivers flood terrible down there! Your dogs will be eaten by alligators and you by no see ums (biting nats) and mosquitoes - your outlet will be the Super WalMart - the downtown Wilm draw they mention is college bars - oh, a few good restaurants but it's crowded - and you will get a DUI if you drink and drive in NC - which brings me to the courts of B County - they won't like your northern accents - so you will pay for that DUI greatly - but do come on down, makes my home in Wilm more valuable by the minute.

Talking Fast Forward to Dec. 2017

I had a laugh reading all the old negative comments about CP. We bought a lot for under 60K in 2013, built in 2016, moved in in May. The Grand Lanai and outdoor pool are tremendous, and we have a great Wellness Center, pickleball, tennis and basketball courts. Indoor Pool and Lazy River are under construction and should be finished next year. All included in the reasonable HOA fee. The Golf Course opened last year, really nice course. One good thing is, membership is optional in the course, which is a selling point if, like me, you're not a rabid golfer, although we have plenty of neighbors who are! No more lots for sale in my neighborhood, going fast elsewhere. We checked out Magnolia Greens, Waterford, Brunswick Forest, etc. and kept coming back to CP. There's a great community feel here. We're glad we bought when we did because lots are much higher now, still selling well. Negative comments about us Northerners notwithstanding heh-heh, we love it here and are so glad we pulled the trigger on it.
